   Research Product Manager

Research Product Manager

This is not a traditional Product Manager role.

You’ll work as part of the model research organization, partnering closely with Research, Infrastructure, and Applied AI teams to help bring Decart’s generative models from cutting-edge research into production.

The role requires someone who is highly technical, comfortable working hands-on, and able to understand research at a deep level. You’ll identify gaps in model quality, usability, and performance, define evaluation methodologies, and help drive the day-to-day execution of research priorities.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner closely with research teams to drive rapid iteration of Decart’s foundation models.

  • Define and own evaluation frameworks that measure model quality, usability, robustness, limitations, and performance on real-world use cases.

  • Design and improve evaluation pipelines, including benchmarks, datasets, experiment analysis, logging, and performance tracking.

  • Work hands-on with data by building evaluation datasets, investigating model behavior, formulating hypotheses, and defining measurable success metrics.

  • Identify the highest-impact gaps preventing models from delivering customer value, and translate those findings into well-defined research and engineering problems.

  • Help prioritize what should be included in future model and product releases based on evaluation results, research insights, and user needs.

  • Act as the connective tissue between Research, Applied AI, and Infrastructure teams to accelerate the path from research to production.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working directly with technical teams and isn’t afraid to dive into the details. You should be comfortable participating in deep technical discussions while also helping the team stay focused, prioritize effectively, and execute quickly.

The ideal candidate is highly independent, learns new domains rapidly, thrives in fast-moving environments with limited structure, and enjoys building processes that help research translate into useful, production-ready AI systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or another relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience working on technically complex products, ideally in research-driven environments.

  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to work directly with development environments, data, and implementation.

  • Proven ability to drive execution and accelerate technical projects on a day-to-day basis.

  • Strong analytical thinking, ownership, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience evaluating AI models, building benchmarks, working with datasets, post-training workflows, multimodal models, or human-AI interaction.

  • Product experience within AI research or deep-tech organizations.

  • Research experience in AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI.

  • An advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Previous experience at an AI startup, frontier AI lab, model research team, or other cutting-edge AI environment.
